Buffy on F/X question
I've never really gotten into watching Buffy, and have only seen random episodes here and there... but with the upcoming release of the Season 1 boxed set, I've been considering giving the show another shot (starting from the beginning). The nearly universal praise the show has been getting intrigues me.
I notice that F/X has just started Buffy from the beginning. My question is: About how long do you think it should take for them to run through the episodes and start over again?
With Bravo starting St. Elsewhere this week (and the fact that I don't have the Season 1 DVD box yet), I just don't feel like starting Buffy this month. I could start taping episodes, but I *know* I'll forget a few here and there.
I'd much rather wait and catch it via ReplayTV on the next run-through... how long do I have to wait? A couple of months? Do they go all the way through season 5, or do they stop before that point?

This is F/X's second time to run through the episodes. They went all the way to the end of Season Five. There are certain episodes (for example, "Hush" and "Buffy vs. Dracula") that are exclusive to UPN for reruns. It took F/X ?two months? to run through the series in order. I wish I knew the approximate date, but I am sure someone around here can tell you from their TiVo's or what-not.
Another thing I should mention is that F/X is beginning to air some of the syndicated (re: edited) versions of some episodes for this second run. They have "SYN" in the closing credit title cards, or may be listed as such in your cable provider's on-screen information for the show.

Two months doesn't sound too bad (can someone confirm that?)
That puts us at the beginning of March, which would probably be better for me to start watching... thanks for the quick reply.

If memory serves they started the first run-through on Sept 24, but it was only one show per day. Then about a month in they switched to 2 shows per day, and they finished just before Christmas, so it was about 3 months.
Since they're showing 2 per day now, however, that will shorten it about 2 weeks (plus thanksgiving and halloween were marathons that weren't part of the chain). So with 2 per day it should be about 2.5 months - though I haven't heard if they're definitely going to replay them all in order again a third time.
FX showed all 5 previous seasons except for 4 (5 truly because one was a 2 parter) episodes that were fan favorites - UPN kept syndication rights to those and has shown them or will show them soon.

There are around 100 episodes (12 in season 1, 22 in season 2-5), so if FX does the 2 hours of Buffy per day, it'll take exactly 10 weeks to get through 5 seasons.
I urge you to start now, today and get on with episodes 3 and 4 of season 1 and just enjoy the ride. To count on FX to show another run of Buffy might be stretching it.

Since most of the episodes held back have been re-run on UPN, I wonder if F/X can show them now? I guess we'll find out around the time 'Hush' comes around....

Friday, Feb 15th, HUSH on F/X. Woo-hoo! Yeah, so in about a month and a half, we will already be up to Season 4. Season 4 will end around the end of Feb, so mid-March will be the end of Season 5, and then I assume they will start over again.
