Great episode. The Boston UPN affiliate put some stupid advertisement for their news program at the bottom of the screen twice during the episode. :mad:

upn needs to crack down on their stations doing crap like that. I've heard of other things similar to that

Well, this episode actually held my attention. I've been pretty bored with the season so far, but I was glued to this one, wondering what the deal was with the Suliban. We haven't seen them since the premiere right?

I don't get the Vulcan attitude toward time travel. 'We did some research and its not possible' - I guess they don't plan on inventing anything new for a while....

I don't know how much more of Gosh Gee Jon Archer I can take. "Howdy! We're from Earth. Kin we come over and play?" :yack: Hell, Gomer Trip has more command presence these days...

Give Porthos some cheese. His farts can't possibly make it stink any worse.

I admire them for doing an episode that didn't wrap things up in a nice little bow, but did anyone else think the ending felt a bit too much like an X-Files mythology episode? I'm almost wondering now if they're going to spend the next seven years feeding us bits and pieces of this Time War storyline.

While watching, my friend and I saw a commercial for Walmart. He vocalized his intense hatred for this chain, not because of their “Leviathan must be the last beast in the sea” attitude, but because they refused to stock the Nirvana album with the naked, male infant on the cover. Both of us are puzzled by the enforcement of backward puritan values in the entertainment industry and in other aspects of American (and to be fair, much of the world’s) culture. On this note, he mentioned that they won’t even cast male dog’s in the role of pets anymore as people might become offended if reminded that animals have a gender.

No soapbox. Just…Porthos is portrayed by a girl dog in drag!!! In the 21st century, on a show about the 23rd (I think, I’m not really that into it) they are protecting us from the science of Biology by cross dressing a dog. To recap: semi-enlightened species + modern day speculation of more modern day + fear of human (and everything else that lives) sexuality = televised transvestite bestiality! -eek-

The script writers wish they could achieve such irony.

It sure did have some kind of X-Files feel. Porthos is a female ROTFL;)

I just can't get into Scott Bakula as a 'Captain'. Even tonight it seems like he is portraying Willy Loman on an off broadway stage production of Death of a Salesman! I don't even take him seriously.

I think I watch now for Phlox and Hoshi character development and Trip seems better than he used to be.

Fight or Flight is on next week.

Did anyone else have flashbacks of Quantum Leap when "crewman Daniels" revealed himself to be a time traveler? :D I know I was :lol: when I saw that part. I kept expecting Dean Stockwell to appear to Daniels telling him he was in the wrong timeline/tv show.

Not too bad an episode... no caves, however there was gratuitous Porthos in the episode. Although I agree, it was annoying to see the gosh-golly-gee-willickers-Earthlings introducing themselves to anyone withing hailing distance... If they do too much of that I will have to stop watching. :p

Is it just me, or are the humans of the 22nd century far too trusting? It is inconsistent with the approach they take with the Vulcans who are supposed to be their best friends.

I agree, but the show would be much less interesting if the Star Fleet (not Starfleet yet are they?) officers acted like the quasi-military organization they seem to be rather than dumbasses.

I mean, can you imagine bin Laden being caught and then telling Rummsfeld that he is a time traveler and he had to kill Americans to save the United States from falling into Soviet hands? I think in real life the captain would have called security, and then interrogated the crewman after he mentioned the Suliban in the hallway. But that would not have been a nice episode, well with the interrogation and torture and all...

Well, this episode entertained me, which hasn't been the case many times, so I'll give it credit for that, and Bob McNeill's direction was pretty good. But as with most time travel episodes, there's not much conern for logic. None of what happened in this episode makes any real sense unless approached at the most superficial level. Time travel can be presented intelligently, but apparently not by B&B. The way they're going, I expect to see the Borg before too long.

I have a feeling, as with all time-travel stories, we're gonna have a paradox. But it is interesting that the Suliban might not be the clear cut bad guys, since they did just save the Enterprise.

Hey, you know what? I got a phone call for about 30 seconds and I missed why they were putting the electro-clamp on that guy’s old quarters. Were they afraid to remove some of his super technology or did he leave a wormhole under his pillow. At the end I was all, “huh?”

It was for dramatic effect and no real logical reason. Archer says, "move his roommate to new quarters ... and [looks into camera] seal them ... until further notice ... we don't know what else is in there." [dramatic music]

Gee ... I certainly hope they're not afraid of discovering something that will contaminate the future, especially after all the effort the time travelers went through to keep things a secret, taking such pains not to show them lots of technology, or leave technology behind. Thankfully the future guy didn't explain in detail what the future will be like ... oh wait ...

Psst... Hey, das: I think the fancy-schmancy box gizmo had "sealed for writers' future use" on it. ;)

Normally, I would say they won't use anything and the sealed quarters would be a non-issue. But it DOES have something to do with [DA-DA-DUM!!] time travel! -eek- Problem is, if they ever use anything, it'll take dialogue longer than the message to the school kids to set things up. :(





If I understand the concept, Enterprise cannot "jump the shark" because it hasn't reached a peak from which to slide down from. (IMO, of course.) But...

Sounds about right. I'm fully confident they plan to return to this storyline, especially since it makes sense that timetravelers would travel to consecutive linear points in the show's future. Right, Mr. Braga?
