Sci-Fi Channel trivia question
 

Many, many moons ago there used to be this character that I think came on during commerical breaks ... he sat behind a desk like a newscaster, but looked like a total greasy-haired nerd. Maybe in his 40s? He often did "believe it or not" type stories ... and ended his interruptions with a phrase close to ... "And that's better than a slap in the face with a mackerel." Or maybe it was a trout. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? It's very fuzzy in my mind obviously.
