Enterprise 11/14

sorry, can't wait to let someone else do it :)

"From the starship Enterprise to the aircraft carrier Enterprise, welcome home"

Spoiler:
there's that vulcan word, minchara, again :)

Hoshi get's cuter every episode, good casting choice

Spoiler:
Does the underground drilling facility count as the "Cave of the Week"?

Pretty good episode, classic Trek in many ways (Archer making time with the alien chick, infiltration of alien culture, etc.).
But what about the
Spoiler:
Suliban?
They kind of glossed over that revelation.
I guess the plots will now thicken.

mikehunt 11-14-01 10:56 PM

I must have turned away from the tv during that, but I do remember seeing something that would suggest that in the preview. I'll either watch the tape and pay closer attention or watch the rerun on sunday and pay better attention

Works for me!

Personally, I prefer the watch the tape and pay closer attention AND watch the rerun on sunday and pay better attention. But, must be "too broke to pay attention", 'cause I still miss stuff.

Dog gone, dog gone it.

Spoiler:
N'Pol came through in the clutch, defeating the stronger enemy ship. Her tactics would be second nature in the 23d Century, but it's kind of neat to see how the Enterprise crew are just learning how to defend themselves in space.

I'm just glad they found a way to get into a cave. For a minute there, I was really scared.

It was funny...when they said that the antimatter source was underneath the structure, I knew that they would be walking through a cave at some point.

grunter 11-15-01 11:13 AM

Was it just me or did the CGI for the mining facility look suspiciously close to the CGI for the secret underground Vulcan base in "The Andorian Incident" a few weeks back?

It's almost as if they reframed the same computer generated image and pulled back with the camera. It looked very, very familiar.

And yes -- after 9 episodes, I think it's safe to say that Enterprise has officially become "Cave Trek."

Live long and spelunk.

Let's just say that when they went into the chamber, my first reaction was, "damn ... the Vulcans are here too?"

Archer said something about talking to his dog, so maybe Porthos wasn't fed to Phlox'es bat after all...

Or, maybe Prothos is wondering around in some cave somewhere?

It reminds me of TOS when they used the same props for many things (the ship that Khan was on is used in other episodes, the Romulan cloaking device is used as something else in other episodes, conveniently having the Romulans and Klingons trade technology so you could have them using the same ship design, etc)

renaldow 11-15-01 12:05 PM

I'm beginning to see why the Vulcan's originally weren't too excited about having Earthlings travelling in space. Think they realized that no matter what happened, the humans would just end up getting stuck in a cave somewhere? Over and over again?

They should have an episode where they go back to Earth and Archer is requisitioning all kinds of climbing and spelunking equipment.

Where's the dog?

No scene at Captain's table either.

Plenty of cave action though.

Further proof that TREKSHOW WRITERS IS SUCKEKCKEKCEKEKCEKECKE!!!!

The Average fan could write better stuff than the "Official Trek Writers".

But don't get me wrong, I'm still a big fan of ENTERPRISE.....Cap'n Archer, Sappy theme song, Skinny Bitchy Vulcan, and all rotfl.

GrouchoFan 11-16-01 12:01 AM

Kinda cool that the other space-going species were the Malurians. The Malurians will be "sterilized" by the NOMAD probe in the TOS episode "The Changeling."

Nice catch...I love when they do stuff like that.

Place your bets, folks ... how long before Archer out "logics" an android? He'll never live up to Kirk until he can perfect the dropkick and make at least two androids explode from logical paradoxes.

Archer is still way behind Kirk in the most important category - bagging babes. Kirk got one out of every 3 or so episodes. It took Archer 6 episodes before he scored.

In the true spirit of the 00s*, it'll be a team effort, with the surprise being that it'll be Jethro Trip who comes up with the solution to the problem.

:D

I just call it the "year of the beast" and be done with it. Either that or "the decade of destruction."

People say "the nineteen hundreds", so I guess it's fair to call these years "the two thousands" or maybe "the twenty hundreds." :) Past that, I guess the "twenty tens?" Who knows.

10s = The Teens

Spoiler:
I don’t think that there was a revelation. I think that was a Malurian. The Suliban were just kind of mottled, bumpy yellow and this guy was more symmetrically reptilian with radial ridges full of little horns.
I totally thought that was a Suliban at first and then a coupla seconds later I figured, “Oh yeah, Star Trek aliens are based off of only three basic designs anyway. Coulda been anyone.”

And finally, some ship to ship! Next week looks like even more of it, too.

Spock got two of ‘em.

“Computer, calculate pi to the last digit.”
“pi is …beep beep boop bip whirrr kzzaaaaachk B-Chooomb!”

and

“Computer, I am lying.”
“What? If you are lying then you are telling the truth, but if… POWWW!”
(That one was Spock wasn’t it?)
