Originally posted by Patman The whole thing about Buffy's Buffyness consuming Faith was something that I didn't really expect. I thought Faith would be able to keep her "own psyche" within Buffy's body, but I guess the aura that Buffy puts out and reactions she got from being a hero in saving that girl, plus having the tender love of Riley made her want more than her 7 minute flings with guys like Xander :) but it left her very confused, and in some respects, Buffy's externals became internals for Faith. Fortunately for us, they've switched back. I kind of liked season 4 a lot *despite* the Initiative. I do like the way it plays out after Maggie's death but as others have said, Adam is not the greatest of Big Bads. |
I don't really think Michelle Trachtenberg has the intangibles to lead in a Buffy spin-off series. She's better in an ensemble-type show as one of the players, not the main player.

I'd rather see KENDRA the vampire slayer, rather than Dawn the Vampire Slayer.
And she is dead AND has a funny accent. :) |
Personally, I'd watch a Faith spin-off show in a heartbeat. Or how about a Slayer's Anthology where each week told a different story from various past slayers as well as maybe stories with Faith, Kendra and maybe even slayers in the future?
Also, I could see a show based on Oz. It'd be kind of like Kung Fu meets The Incredible Hulk where Oz wanders around to places like Tibet and tries to keep his shapeshifting under control while solving other people's problems. |
I know there's going to be a Giles series in the UK, but I wish we could see a series based on the Watcher's Council. Specifically, how they're coping without actually having a slayer since Faith's in jail (whether they're just sitting around or if they're actively fighting evil), maybe coming into conflict with other groups (like the knights from the last season of Buffy), dealing with the various slayers-in-training they've got around the globe (like what they do if they find out that one of their slayer candidates is totally evil... do they let her live and take the chance she'll become a slayer), etc.

Were there ever talks of doing another Buffy movie with the TV show cast?

They could make a girl clinically dead for a few minutes, bring her back & repeat. Eventually they would have an army of slayers! That would be a cool idea for a movie. |

RE: Who Riley looks like.
I think Riley looks a bit like the son of Maggie Walsh. Spooky... Tonight's FX Buffy's were okay. "Superstar" with Jonathan as the paragon got a little long-winded, but at the end, when Buffy is talking with Jonathan after everything is back to normal, Buffy looked really nice, I like that particular look for her. I actually fell asleep during "Where the Wild Things" midway through the episode, but hearing Giles singing in the coffee shop and the scoobs' reactions to Giles was funny. |
The only redeeming thing in that whole ep was Giles singing. MMMMMM, Giles..... ;)

The look on the scoobies faces though when they saw Giles singing though, was classic. |
Re: Dawn the Vampire Slayer
(Be warned, this does make use of speculation made by writers in various interviews. That said, it's speculation, and wouldn't take place for at least a year yet, and entirely relies on contractual decisions by various people.) Spoiler:
That said, it makes looking for forshadowing in the recent (since the beginning of S5) episodes rather hard, since the long-term (through S7) story arc has to have at least two different endings. Re: Tonight's Episode I think I read too much fanfic someodd years ago, since I found Superstar utterly hilarious (plus, Jonathan! Woo) But, WTWTA is blech. I think I would have enjoyed it more if all the scenes of Buffy and Riley going at it like... Buffy and Riley... could have been replaced with Giles singing. |
If they do decide to go that route, I doubt I'll continue to watch. Dawn is just not an interesting enough character. Even if she were to become the next slayer, it just wouldn't be believable enough for me. I would probably pass on it.
|
If it's Joss' show, I'll keep watching. If it's some of these other guys that are only periodically good writers, I'll probably bail. Whatever the case, 7 seasons is enough for 'Buffy'. Sorry. I love the show, but you can only tell so much story here. They don't want to become 'The X-Files'. As for SMG, staying past seven seasons in any full capacity would be career suicide. She's possibly the most underrated actress in Hollywood, and she'll already have a hard time shedding the Buffy character, possibly too hard a time if the show runs too long.

das - I'm half with you. :) I think SMG would be nuts to leave before season 7 and I think it should end after season 7 too. If however, they try to continue with Dawn, Joss or no, I'm out. The character just isn't strong enough or interesting enough to carry the whole show.

Originally posted by WarriorPrincess I agree, that would be really interesting! But they'd have to flatline each slayer in succession (not one slayer multiple times) to make an army, because when a slayer dies a new slayer is called only the first time. When Buffy died (but was brought back) in season 2, Kendra was called. When Kendra died, Faith was called. When Buffy died again at the end of season 5, no one was called because Buffy had used up her replacement already. So no new slayer until Faith dies... So add that aspect of the buffyverse into your scenario and I'm all for it! :D They'd have to start with Faith since Buffy already used her new slayer card. So either they would kill her off or somehow recruit her into the Slayer army plot. I wonder how long it would take to find a current Slayer who would refuse to flatline for the cause? This would be cool because that way they could have Slayers fighting in different parts of the world. I wonder how many demons & vamps stay away from Sunnydale precisely because there's an active Slayer there? |

Hey, did anyone catch Seth Green on Politically Incorrect the other night?
It was pretty funny, they were talking about the US as a superpower and how countries want us to get involved and when we do, we often get criticized for it. One of the panelists was saying something like the US should never get involved in other countries' issues because we get criticized for it. And Seth Green said something like "Who says we aren't supposed to get involved in other cultures? This isn't Star Trek." and then Bill Maher laughed and agreed with him and said "It's not like we're living under the Prime Directive." :) |

Jadzia - I missed it. I like PI, but haven't been able to find it here in a while.
palebluedot - D'oh! My bad, sorry. Yes, Joss did say he would consider doing a movie, but not until after the series had ended. Made a comment regarding the X-Files and that was pretty much it. |
I wouldn't mind seeing a big budget Buffy movie, bring the whole gang back(Cordelia, Angel, Oz, etc...) I liked how the X-Files movie came between seasons...it fit in really well IMO.
|
I think a movie would be workable - as long as they don't dumb it down for the larger audience. I do think the complexity of a season would be hard to replicate in a 2 hour movie.
