Typically, mergers of this sort don't result in much immediate change.

If it happens, Dish is likely to maintain DirecTV service, just as it exists now, for a medium-to-long transition period before merging the services... They'll just call it "DirecTV (by Dish Network)" or something... At least that's what happened when the last generation of satellite companies got gobbled up...

There are also regulatory hurdles to clear, so I wouldn't panic at the moment.

Unless you, or somebody that you know, sits on the board of directors - we all get to sit back and watch this bad boy unfold ...

Well, unfortunately, less competition will probably mean higher rates for everyone...

I was hoping for the opposite. However, if the prices get too high, cable is always a viable option ...

Did I just say that? Cable *shudder* ...

... hopefully when this POS service gets bought out they'll finally get a clue and quit billing me, start learning how to read their computers and realize that I DON'T WANT THEIR FREAKEN SERVICE and leave me alone. Thank You.

Hopefully they'll get MTV, too. We had to get extended basic with our POS from them so we could get MTV and the WB/UPN.

THANK THE little people FOR TIME WARNER CABLE

Don't expect too big of a price gouge from the satellite companies, if there is one at all.

It may be a long time before this gets approved, if at all.
