Band of Brothers -hypothetical scenario-

Watching this last night my wife and I started talking about Saving Private Ryan and the events surrounding Ryan's rescue. Then I started thinking...is it possible that Ryan could somehow make a quick appearance in Band of Brothers?

If I remember correctly (and it has been awhile since I last watched SPR) Ryan was a paratrooper that missed his dropzone. Can't remember the company though. Ryan was a fictional character so if we did see him it would be some sort of quick cameo, but I thought it would be kind of intersting if this scenario played out.

Anyone else give this any thought?

I too was thinking of its comparisons to SPR. I didn't think of that one though, cause it slipped my mind that Ryan was a paratrooper. It would be really neat though...

Well it might be somewhat entertaining to see someone from Ryan show up in a cameo in BoB, I think it would be inappropriate as well. BoB is a true story, Ryan was fiction.

My roommate said the exact same thing. It would be cool if they ran across either Ryan or the company w/ Hanks that was trying to find Ryan.

i really doubt it. even spielberg wouldn't dare to be that cheesy.

would be neat and all, but sort of distracting and serving no other purpose than to get people to buy saving private ryan on dvd. :<querty>P

I've already seen 2 cows that also made cameos in SPR.
I think one of them also appeared in
"Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" during the scene with "Babyface", i could be wrong however.

If they do this, it will have to be in the third episode. In the fourth episode they move out of France and into Holland.

In SPR, Ryan was with the 101st Airborne Division, which is the same Division that Easy Company, the company of "Band of Brothers," is in. I agree with the previous comment that it would be pretty lame to do any sort of tie-ins between the two things. "Band of Brothers" is about real people in a real company that fought in World War II. "Saving Private Ryan" is a great story and movie, but it is nowhere near as real as "BoB." I would think of it as horribly commercialistic.

In SPR Pvt. Ryan is even in the 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne but 1st Battalion not 2nd. While Tom Hanks was doing research for SPR he read BoB which lead him to approach Spielberg about doing the project. I get the feeling Hanks was "inspired" to make Pvt. Ryan part of the same Regiment as E Company while making the movie.

I doubt BoB will include a cameo by this fictional character. I think Spielberg, Hanks, Dale Dye, and esp. Stephen Ambrose has too much class and respect for the real life vets to do something like that. I'd be shocked if they did.
