YEAH! HBO!
|
I can't believe this they took out Jackie Jr.
|
Yeah, spoiler next time tho. Hehe
|
Wow, are they setting up next season or what(it's as if they didn't want to wrap any storylines up until then)? If someone doesn't mind, what happened in the last minute or so of the episode? (It ran a little long here, and the Tivo didn't get it all)

Incidentally, in the "previously on the Sopranos" clip, they showed a bunch of stuff involving Gloria. Why? She had nothing to do with the episode. Usually, those reminder clips only show stuff pertinent to the upcoming episode. It was very sad not to see a "on the next Sopranos" clip at the end :( BothanSpy |
This episode didn't have a season finale feel to me, in that it was setting up new plotlines (the undercover agent, Anthony Jr's misbehavior causing the Sopranos to change the way they treat him) and leaving old ones to be resolved next year, if at all (the Russians, tension between Paulie and lots of folks), instead of wrapping up the season as we knew it. Still, I thought it was a good episode. My father, on the other hand, was very disappointed. As with last year, a major plot thread (Richie last year, Gloria this year) was wrapped up in the second to last episode, and I'm not convinced either was for the better.
The highlight of this season for me is Chris and Paulie lost in the woods two weeks ago. That episode was wonderfully done. Now begins another long wait... |

I found the finale to be a revelation. I think that Tony is realizing what his mob lifestyle is costing his family. AJ is acting out and has developed panic attacks. Meadow is increasingly distant and angry. Carmela (unknown to Tony, but he knows something is wrong) has thoughts of leaving Tony. And now, the son of his late best friend, a boy he vowed to help, but failed to keep away from "the life", has now died at the hands of one of his own. Very poignant is you ask me. I can't wait a year though.

Anyone else get the connection between the FBI talking about flipping Christopher and his being picked up at the funeral? This AFTER he tries to make nice with Tony and is pretty much shutdown. (I refuse to believe he'd rat, but it's a plot option).
Great episode. The show simply refuses to conform to any of the forumlas we've come to expect. I think that's why some folks are a little turned off by it at times. |

Don't know if it was the FBI though. Might have been locals since it was just for gambling stuff. |
I'm sick of all these "fan-boys" talking about the Sopranos!!
All they want to see is a "Goodfellas Sitcom" Show me people getting "whacked," tie each episode up in 40minutes, and make sure you pick up where you left off. AHHHH!! These people miss the emotion, the sense of family, the pain that this lifestyle puts people, families, and those around them through. David Chase has done a wonderful job in portraying this "emotion" and actually developing characters and getting us to "feel" for them both as individuals, as a traditional family, and as the other "family." This was his original creation and how the show started. And all these Johny-come-latelys just want to see some pointless stereotypical sitcom that they can talk about at the water cooler. I love this show, and I am sick of people putting it down. I'm sorry but in real life your problems, issues, and concerns are not wrapped up by the time you go to bed. You carry them with you, and they are the reason you make certain decisions that effect the future. So please don't expect the Sopranos to wrap up every little "problem" that they deal with in 30 minutes, or within 2 episodes. And NO the answer to their problems is to "whack" everybody. This is not realistic, nor is it Chases original concept of this show. Thank You |
It was an OK episode but...
...wouldn't last week's episode have been a better season finale? The episode last night was actually more like the first episode of a season, not the last. |

Glad to see that other people are supporting what I have said in these posts for a while now, that it is not so much a mob show as a show about his family. I liked the final episode very much. I agree with the post about Tony seeing how his life affects his family, I really think he wants to get out in one way or another. He seemed so tired throughout the show, like every problem was too big for him to tackle.
I hope Gloria is not gone for good. Richie was taken away too quickly... |
Tony's getting fed up with seeing his immediate family torn apart.
Christopher's fiancee will unwillingly be feeding inside info to the FBI. Uncle Junior wants to smell the roses. paulie is kissing the asses of the NY mafia... I think next year, and the series, end with the whole thing coming to an end. Junior wants to enjoy life now, not deal with the business. Chris is going to jail. Tony is either whacked by NY mob or walks away from the business merging his deals tot he NY mob -- orchestrated or sparked by Paulie. Tony then moves to Florida and raises ducks, helping them learn to fly. |

When the show just deals with everyday things of life that's IMHO when it truly shines. |
even though I knew it was coming, I was sad to see Jackie Jr. die :( I thought it was a great season finale episode though..
My prediction though, Chris is now wired.. cops got him on something, now he comes back tryin to pucker up to Tony's butt..... or is that just what they want ya to think? :) |
