Man... one of the worst ones ever, why did they bother putting that one as a season finale... at least this way we won't miss the show until next season like the shows who put a good episode as a finale and not something written while on crack.
|
Why are you all always so critical of this show? Every week there is someone who says "man, tonights episode was the worst one ever." Or "They just need to give it up already." Don't you realize that no matter how "bad" the simpsons episodes get, they will always be ten times better than anything else one TV. The show has been around for over a decade, so give the writers some credit. I for one have never seen a single episode that didn't make me laugh, tonight's included. Just be thankful the show is still on, and stop complaining.

I'll admit that I thought this season was bad in general. Less laughs than usual. But than again we are spoiled because the show is usually FRIGGIN HYSTERICAL! But like caiman said, I alsways get a few laughs out of each episode so it did the job. Not like Malcom in the Middle which I actually watched tonight :yack: That sucked!
|
I found the Holloween episode really funny and the season finale really bad.
|
I'll admit, it was a little dry. But i'll never consider an episode "bad"
I'm starting to like that rumor i heard about a simpsons spinoff show. Call it "springfield" and just make it random. One week its moes, one week it chief wigum, one week its mr skinner. Hey, it'd be funnier than futurama (not that futurama is bad, i'm just saying..) |
I don't like it, Clark. In general, episodes dealing mainly with supporting characters have been not so good (a notable exception is the Apu getting fired from Quick-E-Mart episode). I think it's worth watching nearly every week, with occasional gems. But I think it does hurt the show's legacy - when the DVDs come out, I really don't need to own anything after Season 7 or so.
|
Oh i disagree on both points! I think some of the best episodes are the ones that stand out. Where the opening shot isn't in the simpsons house. The pulp fiction episode, and the spinoff episode. (and i'd definatly buy past the 7th season)
Imagine a whole episode about baby gerald! Or professor clink! Or McBain! Or mr teeny! lenny! Comic book Guy!Rod and todd! menjula! (mmmm mint-julip) |
I really feel that this season's Futurama passed the Simpsons in terms of funniness.
I think Matt Groening said in an interview that he was more involved with Futurama now. |

*yawn* - let it die and get with the early season DVDs.

Every episode of 'The Simpsons' makes me laugh out loud, usually a number of times. I can't ask for more than that. Plus, I thought Homer giving the hobo a spongebath was hilarious. |
Last night's wasn't bad, and the past three weeks or so have been pretty good. They're getting back on track after some truly awful shows.
I have an idea that could keep the show on for a long time, but I doubt it would be popular. Move the show to 7:00 on Sundays, and run reruns during football season when half the country won't even see it at all. Then have shorter seasons in the spring. That would prevent writer burn out and give them more time to come up with better ideas. Since the characters never age, the Simpsons could run indefinitely. I'd hate to see it run into the ground just because the pressure to make too many episodes per year leads to inferior shows. |
You're right, that won't be a popular idea. :)
The 8:00 timeslot for them is a classic. |

The Skinner & Crabapple hook up episode was excellent, as was the Skinner is really Armen Tanzerian was also a classic. And more votes for Milhouse's parents getting divorced and the episode with Comic Book Guy and Skinner's Mom getting together. Thinking about it, the only episode that I can think of that fell kind of flat was when Maude Flanders died, but it was kind of a downer topic to begin with. |

Homer: Excuse me sir, is the lady of the house available. Flanders: Homer! She died 8 months ago! Also there are great lines in there: Dr. Hibbert: Hmm, a Ford urinating on a Chevrolet. Mrs. Hibbert: Don't you usually laugh at everything? Dr. Hibbert: Yes. Yes, I do. Homer: ooohhh. look, a bobby pin! Ralph: Mommy has bosoms like that. Wiggum: Yeah, I wish Cletus: Now, honey, they's my parents, too. Ned: No foot-longs! Maude: I know, they make you uncomfortable. |
My Tivo started recording about halfway into the intro. What did Bart write on the chalkboard?

OH! Glavin, with the negative comments, and the hialrious quotes, and the monkeys stealing the glasses right off of my head....
hehe |
I thought the season ending episode was good. It wasn't great, a 5 on a scale of 1-10.
I do agree with a lot of the above posts. I am a huge fan of the show. My biggest claim to fame is that I have every episode of the show on VHS. Sigh-of course I will be purchasing the DVD's when they come out and all my work will be for not. Oh well, it was definitely worth it though, to have the opportunity to watch any and every episode I'd ever want to at any given time. Having the DVD's will just be an extension of that, and I look forward to it. Just like I look forward to every new Simpson's episode. Like someone said above, it may not be as good as it was in seasons 3-7, but it is still one of the funniest and best written shows on TV today. Some of the episodes do suck, but I always laugh out loud at least once. And that is something I cannot say about any other show I have ever watched. :) |
