Can anyone explain what VHF and UHF stands for? Is it Very High Frequency and Ultra High Frequency? I know VHF has stronger signals but shorter ranges and UHF had weaker signals but longer ranges. Why is that?

UHF is a film that should be on DVD, but that's neither here nor there...

They aren't 'old school' terms, they are the same terms used today. They are different because they are in different spots of the radio spectrum, so they have different properties.

UHF is between 300Mhz and 3Ghz while VHF is 30Mhz to 300Mhz.
