Actually, the contract doesn't expire for another 1.5 hours. Then the Guild has to call for a strike vote and authorize a strike, before it happens.

I'm sure the strike would be resolved early enough for new shows next season. The next few months are always re-runs anyway. As long as filming resumes by august I see no problems

No, there is no strike as of 10:00am PST.
The WGA and Studios agreed to continue negotiating past the midnight deadline.
Up until Riordan came out with his scare speech, a long and bloody strike was pretty much guaranteed. Now, who knows what's going to happen???
