I must say with all the trash comming out of hollywood today, 61* had to be one of the most refreshing and touching movies I have seen in a long time. If you get a chance to watch it, don't miss it.

I was skeptical when I found out about the shooting, but I really enjoyed the final deal. The attention to detail was nice, from the non-whitewashing of Mantle's character to the neat way they fit players like Al Kaline and Jake Wood into the game sequences.
Did anyone catch Tom Candiotti as Hoyt Wilhelm? Brilliant casting!

I missed that. That is brilliant casting. They even got the look of the scoreboard (with the Gunther Beer billboard) in Baltimore at that time correct.

I'm a huge baseball fan, so this movie would have had to have been horrible for me to say anything bad about it. Thankfully it was everything I had expected and more. I watched it with my wife and was simply amazed at how much Barry Pepper looked like Maris...and even Thomas Jane looked a lot like Mantle most of the time. Excellent, excellent film whether you're a baseball fan or not.
Thank you Billy Crystal for bringing back a part of the game that we've been missing for a long time.
