Hi,
I'm going to be buying a new computer soon.
What are the minimum requirements to play DVD movies on a computer?
Would a Celeron 700 with 128MB of RAM be enough?

And when if comes down to it, how much better is a P3 compared to a Celeron chip? Celeron's now have the same new instructions as a P3, and I'd rather buy a Celeron because its way cheaper.
Thanks!
Andy

Yes.

Not much for most purposes.

Stay with the Celeron. Doesn't hurt if you get a motherboard that can handle both though.

yes, that is plenty to watch dvds.. the big thing will be your video card.. make sure you have a good one.

you wont notice much if any difference in the celeron chip, and the prices are definitly much better.

not sure if your planning to overclock it.. but you have a fair chance of clocking that processor up to 1050 mhz with nothing more then a golden orb cooling fan (about $10).

Thanks for the info.
I'm thinking of getting a ATI Xpert 2000 32MB card which has a hardware decoder on it.

I would like to go Radeon but that's a bit too expensive right now.
