How to convert DVD to audio cd / mp3

Hello Friends,

I have some DVDs of songs that I want to convert to audio cds or mp3s. Can some one please detail on how this can be done.

some computers can record directly off them by going into sound recorder and choosing the Sound Card as the source to record. For my computer though, we just rang a mini Y cable from my Sony DVD Player into the sound input jack, recorded them, and then encoded them.

an even easier way is to use the program called "Total Recorder" i think its in version 3.0, cracks are easily found and the program can downloaded in demo form from their website, which excapes me right now.
