Help! Adding an app to Vizio TV

My Vizio TV doesn't have Sling in its standard list of apps. A google search tells me I just push the "v" button on my remote to add a new app. I may be dense, but where is this button?

My Vizio from 2015 had a V button in the middle. Maybe try home and go to apps?

OP, maybe let us know what model you have.

I think the Vizio App Store sucks, and I know the newer models required you cast to the TV using their tablet remote thing. I had an older one, and I never used the apps since they were so glitchy. I just ended up hooking a Roku to it.

I purchase a fire stick and it is so much easier. Had all kinds of issues with the build in Hulu app.

The only thing you can do (that I can tell) is rearrange existing apps.

Whoa, you can do that? Cause I've got a Roku downstairs. Can you turn another TV into a Roku somehow? Freaky.

Don't have any experience with fire sticks, so I don't really know what they bring to the table.

Re: Help! Adding an app to Vizio TV

Another option is if you have a smartphone like an iPhone, Vizio does have a SmartCast app You can use. Maybe you can add Sling that way. Another is to just go the Roku route and pop it into one of your HDMI ports. A Roku is just a streaming device where you can add apps. It doesnít matter what kind of TV it is. And hereís a review video where it looks like they use the TVís App Store.

Re: Help! Adding an app to Vizio TV

Thanks for the help, guys. I still can't figure how to add an app, but I think I'm going with Hulu anyway. At any rate, that video helped me get all synced up with my phone and laptop. It's cool being able to see YouTube on a big screen. I'll keep futzing around to see what all I can do.

I guess it's time for me to finally cut the cord (maybe 10 years too late )...

Re: Help! Adding an app to Vizio TV

Just an FYI, if you go with Hulu using the Vizio app, it does not allow you to use any Live TV features, should you decide to use it for live TV. But if you hookup the Roku to the Vizio, you can use it that way.
