Recommend me a phone call blocker

For about a month I've been getting phone calls from a pre-recorded voice that obviously wants me to say "yes" when she says "can you hear me?"

I know all about this scam but what is unnerving is that the call comes from a new number every time it calls... at least the last 4 are new. About 10 minutes ago, the phone number was entirely new. This is beyond frustrating as I get about 5 calls per day.

I've tried free call blockers from the Android store but it hasn't worked at all. Do any of you have a good solution or recommend an app to deal with this nonsense?

There's currently no solution to this growing problem.

Isn't there an option, on Android at least, to essentially block everything that isn't already in your contact list? Normally not a good idea, for example, your Doctor calls you but they aren't in your contact list, but I'm about to resort to this. I'm starting to add more folks to my contacts right now getting ready to block by default except those I add.

Turn on "Do not Disturb" but allow calls from your contacts as exceptions.

I use the Hiya app. It's not perfect, but it trims a LOT of stuff.

I use Nomorobo.com on our landline. I’d say it’s cut down about 75% of our spam calls. It doesn’t block everything, but it’s a noticeable difference.

They have an app for mobile phones, but I haven’t tried it yet.

We've had Nomorobo for about a year on our landline. I agree, it has cut way down on spam for us.

Their mobile apps require a subscription.

It's that thing you connect to Google Voice.

Re: Recommend me a phone call blocker

Who knew that using the phone could become such a chore? These assholes have succeeded in degrading the quality of life for all. Way to go! Anyone can cause whatever number they like, to display in the caller ID display. It's hopeless, and the caller ID feature has therefore become useless as a screening mechanism. No solution other than going to China and / or India and nuking these "call centers" (what a euphemism!) out of existence.

I use the Verizon call filter app. It's not perfect but it does catch a decent number of spam calls and will identify them as potential spam.
