Pricing is really ridiculous. Gotta buy a really expensive hotspot. Also for reference 8bits = 1 byte. So you get 1.875 gigabytes (gb) for $70. That's really insane pricing.

And who is going to buy this to use only 2gb a month?

Based on my name we are looking at $2100 per month....fuuuu

AT&T will offer the Nighthawk for $499 plus a 15 gigabits of data for $70 a month.

Everytime something revolutionary and new comes out the price is so over hyped. That's business in America.

I'll wait until it hits 4G pricing. No rush.

Woah... Holy pricefuck, Batman!

That's one of the most absurdly overpriced things I've ever seen. At 5g speeds, one could burn through 1.87GB in only a *minute* or so!!!

So, that aburdity in pricing bests even Ma Bell's "3 minute call" rates for transatlantic calls during telephony's infancy (1920s-30s) even when adjusting for inflation.

$70 per minute for "data" + $500 initial charge? Only Billionaires need apply.

Mere mortals can check back in 5 - 10 years.

Usually revolutionary things that they actually bring out of beta are somewhat useful (or cool in a status symbol kind of way). I'm with OP, who is going to pay this?

What's sad is it's only marginally faster than 4g.

... then perhaps it's somehow being throttled or fake 5g. I thought 5g was supposed to be 5 - 10 Gbits / sec?

Of course, distance is *key* and speeds would dramtically drop off with each meter from the relay signal of the main network connection

The $500 5g hotspot is capable of 625mbps peak, the Samsung s9 is capable of nearly double of that, strictly speaking of the theoretical hardware capabilities on the device. The s9 numbers include laa( unlicensed bandwidth) support which the 5g hotspot does not support.
