That last link looked a little above my knowledge grade...

I just going to stick 10 in and see what happens...

So just want to be certain as not much info on non-legit copy of 7 upgrading to 10: I should not lose my files or personal settings or anything with upgrade, correct?

I never upgraded from 7 to 10 on my old Dell Studio laptop, but one reason I didnít was because I didnít want to lose some Windows 7 specific stuff like Chess Titans and the trial versions of Word and Excel. Iím not sure if they would have gone away with the forced 10 upgrade, but I didnít want to risk it

put win 10 on the new hard drive, put your old hard drive in a USB enclosure and copy from it what you want/need, put it in the shelf as an archive until you are happy you have everything.
What I would probably do in this situation is buy a new SSD, clone my old HD to the SSD, swap the drives, install Windows 10 to the new SSD, and the move any files or settings from the old drive that didnít make the transition.

SSDs do wonders for old systems. I did this with Studio a while back; it boots (from 7; I didnít upgrade) about ten times faster and no longer overheats.

Re: Legit online site to buy Windows 7?

I like that the topic of this thread is looking for a place to buy a legit copy of Windows 7, and that apparently didn't even happen.

Oldboy, where did you end up trying to get Windows 7 from? I think its odd to me that you don't just try and get a legit copy versus now trying to jump to Windows 10.

It was digitalkeys.com or something. It came up on internet and got. I got refunded by bank, but know they were bad. So I said fuck it, just get legit 10 and be good for few more years...
