People in the industry have been talking up 8K for a while, even before 4K was really introduced. Some wanted to jump 4K entirely for 8K.

The problem is that television displays are becoming commodity items. There's virtually nothing to differentiate them for the average consumer that doesn't understand nits. The industry hates this trend.

The guy makes alot of sense. HD is good enough for me as I sit 10 feet away from my 53" WS HDTV. I really have no desire to improve over that although my next TV will more than likely be UHD because that's the direction the industry is moving. As far as 4K UHD media, I just don't really care, and that's saying nothing about 8K.
