Just saw this, did you get it figured out?

Since your "google" account controls, gmail, youtube, Chrome browser (for syncing wherever you log in), etc., my guess is you would need to sign out of Chrome too.
Or, you can turn off sync

What I did, was create a new google acct for work, and logged into Chrome with that acct, and turned Sync off.
I can't remember since it's been awhile, but I think there was a way to log in to Chrome with your primary acct, then create/log in to Chrome with a new acct and sync primary to new. Then once it synced the first time, I turned off sync on the new acct.

Besides MS exiting from Edge and adopting Chromium, add Brave browser to that list which has recently converted to full Chromium as well:

I use Firefox. IE which I only used for a million years became shit. Firefox never steered me wrong and carried over all favorites and bookmarks when I went to Windows 7 from Vista. Works better, now, on 7...

To get minimal functionality on this message board (ie. logging in, making posts, etc ....), I had enable scripts (in noscript) from the domains dvdtalk.com and ajax.googleapis.com

(In the old dvdtalk setup, I didn't have to enable any scripts at all).

There is a competition between the Firefox and Chrome. However, Chrome takes more memory but still, I think it is more popular and used by the people as compared to the Firefox.
