Laptop-Factory reset?

I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop.

I have been trying to factory reset it but every time ends in a failure and nothing has been deleted.

How many different things can be done to factory reset it without a repairman having too do it?

About 2 years ago a new hard drive was installed and now it freezes up and barely works.

Sounds to me like something else may be wrong than the hard drive. Can you get to the memory and reseat it? Overheating?

Are you trying to use the recovery partition, recovery media or A clean install of Windows? What’s the OS? I

Re: Laptop-Factory reset?

I am trying to save my personal files but delete everything else.

I tried again and got very close to finishing but then up pops -there was a problem and nothing was deleted.

Re: Laptop-Factory reset?

Run a harddrive diagnostic. Here's a guide on how to do it from the BIOS on an HP laptop:

While you're at it, might as well test the memory too.
