Huh. I had an aftermarket Bluetooth head unit in my old car, but I just got a "new" 2014 Ford Escape with SYNC and I can listen to music through Bluetooth. It was a pain in the ass to update the firmware to make it so it would remember my last track though.

Also, my 8 Plus is out for delivery too!

Re: iPhone 8

My shipment of the 8 was delayed. (It's sitting in Louisville and won't arrive until Monday now.) I'm told that there was little interest at the local Apple store; a friend got there about 45 minutes before they opened and was 8th in line, and almost everyone was there for the LTE watch and not the phones.

Picked mine up from UPS this morning. Man I missed the Plus this last year. The camera on the 8 Plus is incredible.

Is the home button not really being a button new to the 8 or was the 7 this way as well? Love it so far. Big upgrade from a 6.

Did you notice the focus lag? That's the biggest downside of the iPhone 7 Plus compared to the competition

I noticed it but Iím getting amazing photos with it, so itís not that big of an issue.

I think the Pixel May have the best overall camera of any smartphone, and Iím guessing the Pixel 2 will be even better, but it doesnít matter because Iím not going to buy a phone thatís essentially a vacuum for Google to suck up my personal data. Until a viable phone OS comes out that isnít tied to one of the worst privacy offenders of all time, Iím sticking with the iPhone.

You don't use Gmail, Google maps, Google contacts, or anything Google related?

*Actually, it says I only have 400MB free, but when I add up the free space and space used by my Apps and photo gallery, it looks like I'm missing about 4.5GB on my 16GB iPad Air.
I had the same issue on my iPhone 6. The iPhone said it had 100MB free space. When I connected the iPhone to iTunes, it said the iPhone had >3GB free space.

I read that for some people, doing a hard reset freed up the lost space. That worked for me. Got back the 3GB that was missing.

1) Backup your iDevice.
2) Erase All Content and Settings.
3) Restore from iTunes/iCloud.

Hope that works for you.

Interesting ... might have to take up on this offer.

Was thinking about the X, but I might just go with the 8 Plus. Here are my personal reasons:

1) I'm still not sold on the idea of Face ID. I really like the Touch ID. I can think of several instances where the Face ID won't work (e.g. if I want to check sports scores under the table during a meeting, which I do all the time).

2) The display on the 8 Plus is actually wider than the iPhone X, by about 1/4". The display on the X is much taller, giving it a longer diagonal. I don't like the 2.165:1 aspect ratio of the X. I prefer the 1.78:1 ratio of the 8 Plus.

BUT ...

X) I love LOVE the smaller form factor of the X.

Maybe I'll go with iPhone 8 Plus for 1-2 years, then upgrade to the next iteration of the iPhone X.

I used to use them and have transitioned to other services. The only service of theirs I use is the photo backup, because I use multiple photo backup services for redundancy. I use Proton Mail for my email, Apple Maps for my Maps, iCloud for my contacts. I barely ever use Siri so Google Now or whatever itís called these days is no enticement. I donít have any interest in having an always on listening mic in my home like Alexa or the Google speaker (or the upcoming Apple one).

Re: iPhone 8

My case came in today and the phone looks great. In fact now that the case is slipped on I am noticing how easy it is for it to recognize the fingerprint to unlock feature. Just by itself it wouldn't always take but now it's easy -- I guess the way the case molded to the phone gives it support.

But alas, the iPhone 8 is not a gigabit phone after all. To hit gigabit speeds, you need three components: the modem, antennas for 4x4 MIMO, and software support for 256/64QAM encoding. We've learned that the iPhone 8 doesn't have the four antennas needed for 4x4 MIMO, which would restrict it to either 600Mbps or 800Mbps, depending on the way the rest of the phone is configured.

Re: iPhone 8

Looks like the radio on the Verizon and unlocked version performs better than the native att or tmobile versions on their respective carriers again.

I clearly havenít noticed it - did the iPhone 6s focus better than the 7+ or 8+?

The autofocus on my Canon 5D Mark III tends to bother me more, but if the photos can be so great, you put up with all sorts of stuff, starting with how incredibly heavy the camera & lenses are. ďCompetitionĒ is all relative- both my cameras have their advantages & disadvantages and I wouldnít part from either one

It isn't bad, but the iPhone 7 Plus compared to my note 7 or s7e (last year's Samsung flagships) was noticeably slower to focus.

When referring to the 8 Plus, I don't have one but dxomark review indicates that the 8p focuses noticeably slower than even the s7e and Note 7.

It isn't a huge deal and if you haven't had the s7e or note 7 then you probably won't notice it.
