Re: iPhone 8

Anybody have an Apple Watch? Thinking of picking up a new one for health apps and working out. Very confused over Stainless Steel v Aluminum and the ceramic vs non coatings. I e never bothered looking at them in person so it's all spec sheet discuisson

Re: iPhone 8

I was confused when I got mine too. Ignore the bands and buy the watch you want. Aluminum is lighter than the stainless but is also cheaper. You can buy bands to your hearts desire once you have the watch you want. Other than that you'll need to decide whether you want GPS and or cellular service.

Re: iPhone 8

The stainless and ceramic will have the sapphire screen which is virtually scratch proof. My apple watch first gen has a mint screen stil even after two and a half years of usage. The aluminum will have the standard ion x screen.

I would try to pick the band that you want as some bands can be expensive.

Re: iPhone 8

The ion x screen isn’t so bad either. I have a first gen watch and it also has no noticeable scratches on the screen.

Same here. I wear my watch all day, every day, and I am a world-class klutz, bumping it into anything and everything, every chance I get.

But after almost 2 1/2 years, there are no visible scratches on the watch face and no marring of any kind to the aluminum body. Other than the wear on the band, the watch looks new.

I have had the stainless steel series 2 since launch and it is damn near impossible to scratch this thing while the wife's sport has a few scratches but nothing major. I went with 42mm and her 38mm.

Like previously stated dont worry about the bands and you can put ANY band they sell on any Watch as long as it matches the size

Re: iPhone 8

Good to know, although now looks like everything is backordered 3-4 weeks.

Guess I'll be waiting unless Best Buy gets some stock.

Re: iPhone 8

I picked up a stainless series 2 on eBay for a decent price. Looks like the only way to get a new stainless is to go series 3 cellular. Series 1 is aluminum only.

Re: iPhone 8

IphomeX is actually the most expensive one that had the wireless charger, facial recognition , ect

iphone 8 and iphone 8 plus probably aren't as expensive, but I'm sure aren't that much less

Yeah, they need a better system. It took several hours to download the 533 MB update and at least another hour to install.

Mine shows “preparing for shipment”. Delivery next day 9/22. Has said that since Sunday so I hope I see change in a day or two

Mine says the same, I’m not worried. But I thought you were getting an X?

Re: iPhone 8

I only have about 400MB* free on my iPad, so it looks like I won't get the update. Which is fine with me, because I have too many games that won't be usable on iOS 11.

*Actually, it says I only have 400MB free, but when I add up the free space and space used by my Apps and photo gallery, it looks like I'm missing about 4.5GB on my 16GB iPad Air.

Same, just waiting for UPS to populate a two hour delivery window. Luckily I have nowhere to be but home on Friday.

Probably better for the general Apple thread but did iOS11 screw up connections for anyone else? I'm basically unable to control music from my car now. Sluggish, cuts out, loses connection. Hope it gets resolved in a patch. For now, back to the old audio jack cable...

Where do you get a two hour window from. My says “Next day air” the “end of day” so I have no clue when it will arrive

I always use a cable for the car, but Bluetooth has been snappier for me since upgrading when it comes to connecting to my Apple Watch. iOS 11 definitely isn’t perfect though.

Nothing weird for me yet - works fine over Bluetooth in my car.

Re: iPhone 8

My car isn't using BT. It's not new enough to be Apple Car Play, or whatever it's called but it has a USB in and can control Apple devises for music only. My car can do BT but only for phone calls, not music. It recognizes the phone right away but trying to play any music is almost impossible.

Also, 8 Plus out for delivery!!

Re: iPhone 8

Looks like Apple neutered the radios in the iPhone 8. At least the one with the qualcomm baseband processor. I am assuming that they will use an inferior Intel or other baseband processor on the gsm models, and need to neuter the Cdma models to match radio performance
