Wifi Extender, Reater, Booster question Please Help.

A friend of mine lives in an apartment in the back of his landlords house. The landlord gave him the Wi-Fi networks name and password but the signal barely reaches the apartment. He's on the 2nd floor. The downstairs neighbor has no problem using the signal.

My question is my friend doesn't have his own Wi-Fi or even a computer. He would like to connect his Roku 3 to the Wi-Fi so he can enjoy it without using up all of his phones hotspot.

My question is will a Wi-Fi extender, booster, repeater work to pick up the signal? Although he has the password he doesn't have access to the router or anything else just the information on how to log on to it.

If there is anything that might possibly work please lmk what it is and what I need to do to set it up.

Please help me out I'm trying to get him going.

Thanks

You can try a wifi extender. You should get a 5ghz one as You are in an apartment so there might be Wi-Fi interference . You would need to play around to find the best spot in the house to put the extender, the spot with the best signal. Here is a popular one

Re: Wifi Extender, Reater, Booster question Please Help.

I just installed a Wi-Fi extender in my house as upstairs in my master bedroom the signal to my Roku and iPad was adequate but low. It works perfectly.

Only issue is I did have to push a button on the main router to sync them...so some will require access to the main router unit.

Can someone recommend me a good extender? I have a Netgear but it seems that most if not all of them only give have the speed as the main router.
