Android Training Help

I have an older friend who is having trouble getting savvy on his older android phone--Galaxy S4 I think. He says he is not using it to full potential, he seems kind of intimidated with the tech, but wants to get a new S7 or something similar.

He bought a book (!) 'for dummies' to help, but said he 'never read the damn thing'. I suggested youtube and he said it was hard to find one where people were helpful and didn't assume you already knew a lot.

So.... Anyone know of a good youtube channel or vlogger who is good for old people? Someone who doesn't rush and can help catch someone up on new android tech?

I figure we all know someone like this and perhaps can share a 'for dummies' list of resources for older folks?

Thanks!

Re: Android Training Help

This is a 15-minute basic tutorial on Android.

The channel also discusses other tech related things at a basic level, mostly Apple stuff but not always.

Re: Android Training Help

Amazon has their "Mayday" 24/7 live support for their Fire Tablets. Their cheapest $50 tablet includes this feature:

I think the ability to get live support whenever he needs it is a significant leg up over more general-purpose books or emails. While Amazon's OS is not exactly the same as regular Android, it's pretty close, so the help he gets with it may be enough for him to feel more comfortable with an Android phone. Most of the apps that are on both Amazon Fire and regular Android are going to work similarly.

There is a rumor that Google is going to include a similar live support feature in the next batch of Nexus phones due out this fall:

So if he can wait a few months, he could get a new Nexus phone with a live support feature.

Re: Android Training Help

Also, Google has their "Teach Parents Tech" site that features videos on how to use tech for novices.
http://teachparentstech.org/

They have a section on Android:

Edit: Bleh, it looks like the site is just general "Google Tips" and not the full-featured site that originally launched:
