How to use a microphone with windows 7 question...

I'm a teacher and I have my school laptop hooked up to surround sound (line out -> receiver -> speakers). Needless to say watching movies in my classroom is pretty cool.

I have a student that is hard of hearing and I'd love to use my microphone to make it easier to hear me lecture.

Is there a way in windows 7 where I can just talk into the microphone and have to go right out to the receive and speakers? I don't want to record it...just talk into it and hear it.

Some people have said that windows 7 and 8 have a delay/latency problem listening to the mic

Here is a link that might be helpful

Why not plug a mic into the receiver?
