How to transfer from iPod Classic to laptop

What is the best and easiest way to transfer the music from my iPod Classic to my laptop so that I am able to in turn transfer select songs onto my Galaxy S5?

I have itune, but for some reason that's not doing anything

Re: How to transfer from iPod Classic to laptop

My computer crashed about 3 years ago and I had no backup of my mp3s at the time. The only solution I found to transfer the songs from my iPod Classic back to my computer was with the help of a program I had to buy. There wasn't any way in iTunes at the time to do that (and there still may not be).

I'll need to look to see the name of it. It was like $10, but for the amount of songs I had it was worth it.

The easiest way may be to just enable disk usage for your iPod in iTunes. And then just copy everything using Windows Explorer.

Long time ago I used to use sharepod, it worked great, and it was free. I see that's still available, but not sure if it's still the best tool. Almost any tool would just be more friendly, but Windows Explorer should work.

The advantage of using any tool would be that you can save your music with better names, and organize by album, and that kind stuff.

Under Folder Options make sure you have it set so that you can see Hidden Items/Folders and you can access the folder that has all you music or video files. You don't need any programs to copy everything to your laptop, just drag & drop.

If I remember correctly, they aren't labeled with track names, just random jumblings of letters. The metadata within the mp3 will contain all of the info you need once you put it into a music player program. The only reason I mention this is because I've had people want to pull certain songs off of their ipod, and couldn't find it through a search.

Try Yamipod...

http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/

I used it a few years ago to get music off an iPod and it restored (at least to some degree) the filenames.

On Windows 8.1 the artist and song title are listed under Details but not sure if it's that way on Vista, Windows 7, or XP.

Re: How to transfer from iPod Classic to laptop

Has anyone done this lately? I wiped and reset my MacBook Pro, and want to re-sync my library from my iPod Classic to my iTunes. I downloaded iMazing but the limit is only 50 files, a joke when you had a humongous library. Any help is appreciated!
