Re: Amazon Echo

So nobody's gotten an invitation yet? The Amazon site is showing the item as "shipping in3-5 weeks", so maybe we'll be hearing something soon...

Re: Amazon Echo

Lots of turds on slickdeals are reporting getting invited yesterday and also flipping them.

Sure enough. Scumbags.

Re: Amazon Echo

I wonder how they're inviting people. like first come first serve, or just random.

I'm thinking random, as they apparently aren't showing favoritism to this 5 times daily customer.

Well played to take something no one wants and make it desired due to scarcity.

Just because you don't want it doesn't mean nobody does. I want one, as do others in this thread.

True, I realize some people are interested, but I still think the majority of initial purchases will be by speculators.

I find it fascinating how people will shit themselves over the NSA keeping track of telephone records, yet turn around and let a billion dollar corporation put an open microphone in their home.

^ This. But people think Amazon is their "friend", so it's OK! It's cool, man.

Did Jeff Bezos pop your girlfriend or something? You have a very deep-rooted hatred of Amazon!

Re: Amazon Echo

Nah, nothing like that, but that is an interesting idea! Mr. Bezos probably has a gf in every port, looking to lighten him of all that gold he's made!

I loved Amazon when they sold books. Only books. They did it very, very well, and were extremely competitive. I have very fond memories of them from 1995 to 2003 or so.

Now, they've gotten too big for their britches and their greed has grown at a geometrical rate. They need to become more humble and sometimes be willing to take one for the team...

Kind of depends on whether those are the same people, no?

I hear ya, bud. But a sad truth is that publicly traded companies pretty much have to be all about greed and squeezing every last dime.

I don't like it either, but considering how massive Amazon is, I rarely ever find their service lacking. Just my opinion, though.

Re: Amazon Echo

I have some issues with Amazon as a business such as things like the Hatchette stuff, but not nearly enough to continuously rail on Amazon like zyzzle seems to do or stop using them as a retailer. But this seems like a discussion better suited to the Store Forum.
