Re: Amazon Echo

Cool, I love mine.

Has anyone received an invite for Echo Auto yet? Not sure what's happening with that.

Just what we need -- Amazon extending its reach from our homes to our cars to follow our every move *outside* the home as well!

And, the people are lapping it up, of course...

Next up -- Amazon's new and improved brain implant which will control our very thoughts and color them toward all things AMAZON!

Me too.

I'm pretty sure this thing won't track my car and follow "my every move", unless it has a GPS built in (it doesn't). Just curious, do you have a GPS in your car zyzzle? Have a cell phone? If so, you can already be tracked, the Echo Auto won't do it by itself, it connects through your existing cell phone.

Re: Amazon Echo

I know that I'm already tracked, since all cars (I think) since 2014-15 models have black boxes in them, which probably means GPS, so I can't get around that. But, the people who use that information, law enforcement or my insurance company, won't be tracking my movements purely for a profit motive, so I'm OK with it in the sense of acquiesence but I still don't like it as it's an invasion of my privacy rights. For that reason, I also don't own a cell phone, so there's no concern there.

I'm just happy that Amazon doesn't have access to that informaiton (yet!). But, they're trying with this Amazon auto device. You can bet that very soon it WILL include a GPS. I'm glad it doesn't have GPS yet -- thanks for correcting me on that mistaken belief!

Actually I would like for it to have a GPS so it knows to turn on my InstaPot when I am within 10 miles from home after work.

No problem, and I get you. Believe me, if the Echo Auto ever includes a GPS, there better be an option to disable it.

Re: Amazon Echo

I'm watching the Chiefs game on the Amazn Prime feed on my desktop. Every time there's a commercial break, the ads are making my Echo Dot on my desk play a playlist of music I hate.

I got my invitation and bought one a month or so ago, so it's still a thing; however, I do have to wonder why it's been so hard to come by.
