Re: Anyone use a DAP?

I've used their caulk around my bathtub and found it worked quite well.

Don't even know what a DAP is, so I guess I don't use one!

Re: Anyone use a DAP?

speaking of iPods, if the rumours about apple introducing headphones with lightning connectors do come true, then the iPods and iPhones will be able to play hi res audio files after all.

i was toying with the idea of getting the Fiio X5 http://fiio.com.cn/products/index.as...nuID=105026016 or

the Geek Wave https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/g...e-music-player

but i think i'll wait a little while longer to see how it turns out with the next gen iPhone

I never do DAP... no way I'm going to have my junk rubbing against some other guy's junk regardless of hot hot the chick is.

Re: Anyone use a DAP?

Sorry! I totally forgot about this thread. Great entertainment, though.

Maybe I'll post like this again.

[mod note: No, you're not.]

Ok.

Anyway, was asking about a Digital Audio Player (FiiO X5), and now I'm more interested in the FLAC vs. WAV file issue. I detest compression, but if I can "decompress" a FLAC file so it sounds just the same as a WAV file, then I'll be more inclined put FLAC files on the DAP. Normally, I've just been putting WAV files on my very used Sansa Clip.

Re: Anyone use a DAP?

FLAC is just an alternative to WAV. There shouldn't be any issues with quality as FLAC is also lossless. I rip all CDs to mp3 and FLAC for backup and notice no difference between that and WAV (short of the file size being way more convenient).

WAV is just a Microsoft developed container. Apple has (or had?) ALAC. Not sure why you'd want to convert it to one over the other.

If you want to "decompress" the file, as you stated, foobar2000 does the job. You're essentially just switching containers at that point since your FLAC source was ripped either directly or put in to that container when the original audio file (which was most likely .WAV) was ripped.

Re: Anyone use a DAP?

Thanks for the reply. I use foobar2000 already and love it. Wasn't even aware it has the option to compress via FLAC built-in. I'll have to check this out.
