Help setting up a Linksys router..

Just got a Linsys WRT54GX2 router.

I took the internet cable and plugged it into the router, took a cord from the #1 slot on the router into the back of my computer.

I am getting a wireless signal (I can surf the web on my iphone uing it) but my PC is not able to get online. Is there a setting on the router (or PC) that I need get let the signal travel through the router?

Thanks

Right-click on the little network icon on the taskbar (bottom right side), and select Troubleshoot. Chances are the network card in the computer just needs to be reset.

Linksys routers should come with a setup disc that walks you through getting your PC connected and it should install Network Magic, which lets you control all the devices connected to your network.

Check out some of these threads:

I just switched from a Linksys WRT54G2 that kept having to be reset for a Netgear but overall the Linksys was a good router.

Did you restart the computer? It will refresh the ip address.

Re: Help setting up a Linksys router..

Had a similar thing happen when I installed my new Linksys router (different model than yours). Needed to call Comcast and have a refresh signal sent to my cable modem. Don't know if this is the issue with yours, as I don't know what ISP setup you have...

I had a similar problem when I installed a new linksys router. I just unplugged the modem and router and replugged it back in and it worked. You can also reset the modem(there should be a button on the modem to reset it to factory settings)
