Best FREE Word program?

I have Microsoft Office 2007 preloaded on my laptop, but basically after 25 uses it prompts you to pay for an upgrade with registration key.

Can someone recommend me a good free Word program that I can download that is basically the same.

I'm in the process of sending out resumes and I have a program that does a so-so job, but I guess the format isn't compatible with everyone that I send it to

Also LibreOffice, which is a fork of OpenOffice.org

If your documents aren't that intensive in terms of formatting or features, there's always the underappreciated Wordpad included in Windows.

Jarte is another option for Windows users, it expands on Wordpad:

BTW, the generic term for a program like Word is "word processor". If you google for "free word processor," there's dozens more options.

Office Web Apps is pretty decent, free, and directly from MS:

Obviously, it's all online, but yeah.

This is probably the best suggestion. OpenOffice has developmental problems and its software is usually half-baked.
