My Elmedia Player Pro (YouTube downloader) is on the fritz

I've had Eltima's Elmedia Player for the last 3 years. It has been invaluable as a YouTube downloader...until last night. I've had purchased the license code for Pro that same 3 years ago. Last night it wouldn't let me download. And now today I can download with it, but the files are corrupt. I've contacted Eltima about this matter, and have yet to get a reply.

Have I been hosed? Is there something you know that can help me fix what I've got, or can you recommend a better YT download program?

^^
Thanks. I'll keep that one in mind.

I was looking at this as well:

http://www.amazon.com/Wondershare-Video-Downloader-Mac-Download/dp/B00C79J990/ref=sr_1_3?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1377136883&sr=1-3&keywords=video+downloader+software

Everyone's thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Yes, pay $29 for software to download videos that are free.

DownloadHelper extension for Firefox. It adds a button to Firefox that lets you save Youtube and other embedded videos to your HD.

Re: My Elmedia Player Pro (YouTube downloader) is on the fritz

I've worked with their tech support people and NADA. In fact uninstalling it, doesn't truly uninstall it. When I "re-install" it, it doesn't require my original code, and all the old download tracks are still there. And nothing is better.

Since it's been 3 years, apparently I can't get my money back.

Has anybody had any of these creepy problems with purchased software?

Yes. You have to uninstall the program as you normally would, then go into your registry (not for the uninitiated...) save a backup of your registry, and search for any reference to "elmedia" and delete it. Save registry. Reboot.
That won't even guarantee that it'll work, by the way. It's just what I've done in the past to get other programs working again.

Or use Revo Uninstaller to do the uninstalling.

I've never heard of Revo, but sure. If it works, use that.
I like to do things like that manually because I hate free time and myself.

Youtube has been fighting back lately with people downloading the videos, mainly the ones on VEVO and the other "paid" channels. You either get a 0-byte file or a corrupt video. VDH (Video Download Helper) for Firefox has released several updates trying to keep ahead of the changes. Last I tried the current version it worked just make sure you disable flashblock (or similar) if you have it installed as VDH needs the initial flash info now to get the file to download properly.

Re: My Elmedia Player Pro (YouTube downloader) is on the fritz

Well, I'm (thankfully) getting a refund for the software off of Amazon.com. That was such a mistake. The program did NOTHING. It was inert. And their tech support wouldn't even submit my question.

(By the way: try typing in the name of that aforementioned software company on this thread. It won't show up. You can type in any other proper noun, but it won't show up. Creepy. Seriously, try it. Here: I'll copy and paste the name from the Amazon title:

Video Downloader for Mac [Download]

Creepy. )

Type "ondershare" and add a "w" at the beginning. It won't show up when you save it to the thread.
