Are you buying the new 128GB iPad (4th gen)?

Apple announced a new iPad, which has 128GB of storage. Release date is days before MS releases the Surface Pro (scandalous!)

$800 for the Wifi-only version.
$930 for the Wfi+LTE version.

Are you getting it?

I wonder if this means the next major iPad update will drop the 16gb model, and have 32/64/128 with 32gb being dropped to $499.

My magic 8-ball says "yes!" I sure hope so -- every time I go on a trip I have no room for all the videos I want...

Re: Are you buying the new 128GB iPad (4th gen)?

128GB is good and all (finally, memory has been on hold for years) yet with this the new setup should be 32GB 64GB and 128GB, 16GB is looking really weak in 2013, out of all the parts that is where they cheap out on? Likely because it is the easiest thing to try and get more money for (this goes for most tablets) If there was a 32GB for $500 that would be a good starting point, not a ton of space yet it would likely do for the most part.

Space isn't an issue for me, but annoyed with the different cables than my iPhone 5. So I might give this one (HD w/16 pin to daughter at college) and get me whatever new one comes out. Course if I end up with a laptop as well, I might drop to the 7" iPad.

I have the new iPad 64 (rather 57.2) and I am more than happy.

64 GB is plenty for me. I don't need twice the space for almost a grand in price.

Just bought the 4th Generation 64 gb, so I better wait if I want to stay married.

I'm definitely getting a 128 gb next generation though, or whatever size the largest. I'm constantly deleting apps off my 64 gb, and I haven't even put any movies or music on it.

32 has been more than enough for me. Price point is way out of line IMO.

Re: Are you buying the new 128GB iPad (4th gen)?

I have the new iPad and Ido not plan to get the iPad with retina display in any size. Iuse my new iPad at home 99% of the time. Though, with some pretty large apps, 2gb or so, Ican see how it is easy to fill up, my 16gb gets filled up pretty quickly with the free apps of the day, which i get but mostly delete once i try them, only keeping the ones i really like. With that said, although Ido like additional storage, i am not willing to pay the premium that apple is asking for the additional storage. that, and it is easier for me to justify spending $380 on a new iPad vs. $800 for an iPad with retina display 128gb. Paying a huge premium just for storage...easy way for apple to make money for sure.

Ijust find it hard to justify spending so much more just for storage. That, and I use my new iPad at home 99% of the time anyway. Just out of curiosity, for those who are using it for media, have any of you used wireless usb drives? Isaw a 500gb wireless hard drive for $200ish. Granted, not as convenient and limited usage compared to onboard storage, but it seems like an option for those with lots of media.

I have a 16GB iPad 2 and I still have like 10GB free. I don't keep music or movies on my iPad, and I don't take pictures with it.

If I do it will be a used one in a few years. That price is creeping too close to a mac book air IMO.

Re: Are you buying the new 128GB iPad (4th gen)?

I am constantly running out of space on my ipad due to videos, comics, and large apps, but I don't think I'm going to bite just yet... it's just a storage upgrade, right? Does this mean they're not having an updated ipad in March or so? Even if that's the case, I don't expect them to stand still and whoever buys this should expect something new to come out within 9 months...

This sounds insane to me. I cannot imagine having enough apps to even fill half of my 64 GB.

I just checked and only have about 15 GB worth of apps. Of which I probably use 6 apps on a regular basis.

I have a 3rd Gen 64GB model and right now it's just fine.

I may update to the 5th gen in the fall, but only for the (assumed) faster processing, smaller profile, etc.

Re: Are you buying the new 128GB iPad (4th gen)?

$930

I own a 32GB first gen iPad + 3G. Still enjoy it, but I think I will be going with the Surface Pro instead, and keep the iPad for mobile internet access. No real desire to do anything else on my iPad which would require an upgrade, and the Surface Pro really looks nice. Kind of tired of being tied down to Apple's app store, and I'm really looking for something more capable to take on the go.

Plus, $930 is ridiculous. Apple should have just kept the pricing the same and updated the storage capacities across the board. Adding a new, even more expensive option is lame. And a strange decision too, since it has the effect of making the Surface Pro's formerly high price seem much more reasonable.

I do wonder what the storage capacities will look like on the iPad 5.

Will they have four options... 16, 32, 64, and 128? Or will they drop one? 32, 64, 128? 16, 32, 128?

32gb is more than enough on my ipad. i think i use maybe 15gb. for that reason when i got my nexus 7 i went with the 16gb model. either way whenever i get a new larger screen tablet it will be android unless ios gets a major overhaul.

Not a chance. The sad news is the Apple flock will be buying it in the millions, even at the ridiculous price of $930. Apple knows this.

If they do a 32GB at $500 that would be a fair price for such a device for the most part, once you hit $799 plus tax ($867) and $930 ($1009) it needs to do more for me personally, that could be why the Surface Pro does not feel so bad because it is a tablet computer with a hope pressure sensitivity, however it needs to work well for me to care.
