connectin cable box to computer monitor

connectin cable box to computer monitor

my tv broke. trying to set something up temporarily so when i hook up my cable box to my computer monitor using a hdmi->DVI cable, i get this error on my monitor -

out of range
33.7 Hkz/60Hz

any ideas how to fix this?

Yes, fix your TV. Your monitor won't support the cable box output.

You'll need to give more info about your monitor. Is it HDCP compliant? Some DVI monitors are, some aren't.

What's the resolution of the monitor? Some monitors can properly handle a 1080i output while some can't. Most can handle 1080P as long as they're a 1080p monitor. And most should be able to handle 720p.

I have a monitor that can handle this, but it's only around 2 years old and has HDMI.
