Where's the best place/site to get a *legal* copy of Final Cut Pro 7 for Mac?

I'm hoping to get a job in a media business where knowledge of Final Cut Pro 7 (specifically) is borderline required. I have a Mac.

Anyhoo, I saw the price at Amazon, and sweet Jebus, is it pricey. I wouldn't totally rule it out if I that's the best I'm going to find. But, I'm wondering if any of you find people know of a place for a better deal in regards to obtaining a legal copy of the the software.

Thank you in advance for any input that is offered.

Maybe better to take a class on it, and learn it, then get a job where they would provide it?

I would tend to agree. Unfortunately, I'm in a region of the country that has no classes on it available to my knowledge.

There's a computer program I that teaches that's available, that I'm hoping to obtain soon. But, even so, if I am hired, I'll still need my own software to do projects when I'm at home.

I just need the best price for a functional, legal copy.

Final Cut Pro 7 is out of production and obsolete. The only copies left are whatever are floating around through third party vendors, so they can charge whatever they feel it's worth. Granted, this should mean you can buy it cheaper, but FCP X is radically different, so a lot of people need (or feel they need) the old version.

Of course, if that's what the company is using, you're sort of stuck. Do you have any FCP experience? 7 wasn't that different than the last couple of versions anyhow.

To just learn the interface, maybe you should consider Final Cut Express 4? It's only $200 and has the same interface as Final Cut Pro 7, while lacking some features.

Then if you get the job, just factor in the cost of buying Final Cut Pro 7 (assuming they don't buy a copy for you to use at home).

Here's one for $400:

And there are several others available for well under $1000:

Final Cut Studio doesn't have anything like online product activation, so as long as you have a valid serial number, you're good to go.
