Delayed, now promised by the end of November.

They need to rebuild iTunes from the ground up. Buggiest program I use.

Ditto. It's the most bloated piece of software on my computer, the biggest memory hog, and occasionally painfully slow. I try not to ever connect my iPad to my PC anymore because iTunes insists on reinstalling apps I've deleted.

Re: The Apple Thread

Adam, when you do plug in your iPad, go to the "apps" tab and then deselect the apps you no longer want on your iPad. That's the only way to stop iTunes from re-installing them.

You need to uncheck the box on the Apps tab that says, "Automatically sync new apps."

Maybe Apple should just stop trying to get their software to work in a shitty Windows environment?

Maybe Apple should stop releasing shitty software to a potential user base of over 1 billion people. If independent developers can create solid software, so can the biggest tech company in the world.

More importantly... AAPL stock is down 2% (as of right now... it'll change)

In other news, a UK court has said that Apple must re-issue their "Samsung didn't copy us" apology.

The intention, judges said, was not to make Apple "grovel", but to remove "commercial uncertainty" surrounding Samsung's products.

If what I'm hearing is correct, the new iTunes should be a very welcome overhaul. Too bad it got delayed, but hopefully that only means good things for the interface and fewer bugs. Personally, I haven't had any issues with bugs, but I do think it's become overly complicated to use and I don't use it all that except once in awhile to back up my iPad and iPhone.

You seem to take great delight in searching out and posting any negative press for Apple that you can find.

What other news is there at the moment?
Also, I hardly "searched it out," as it was the TOP story in Google News (tech) this morning.

Re: The Apple Thread

So Apple is reporting that they sold 3 million iPads over the weekend but didn't breakdown how many of those were the iPad mini - guesstimates are 2 million. Tim Cook claims they are "practically sold out". Sounds like a pretty good start and it will be interesting to see how much more they sell when the cellular versions come out. I'm waiting for one of those myself because I want true GPS.

Re: The Apple Thread

i thought that Apple had good customer service?

I bought Apple Care + for my iPad 3 over the phone, the csr took all my info CC, billing address, etc, said ok, all is good. Great, i'm covered.

Fast forward to today I figured, I would check the warranty coverage online just to make sure. Sure enough, no sign of Apple Care+ coverage. So I called in and after some time, they tell me that they see that the order was initiated but never went through, and that it was a screw up on their part. Huh? WTF did Apple take down my phone # and e-mail, and never contacted me when their was a problem with the order? But the advisor just said he didn't know what happened, that that "never" happens. I have had issues with orders from other companies, they always contacted me saying that their was a problem...but just not Apple.

That's ok, the advisor said that I will get an additional month of Apple Care +...we shall see.

this is the revised statement issued by Apple.

Samsung / Apple UK judgment

On 9 July 2012 the High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled that Samsung Electronic (UK) Limited’s Galaxy Tablet Computers, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe Apple’s Community registered design No. 0000181607-0001. A copy of the full judgment of
the High Court is available from http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/...2012/1882.html.

That Judgment has effect throughout the European Union and was upheld by the Court of Appeal of England and Wales on 18 October 2012. A copy of the Court of Appeal’s judgment is available from www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2012/1339.html. There is no injunction in respect of the Community registered design in force anywhere in Europe.

I don't quite understand the source of your anger. Yes, someone made a mistake. It could have happened to anyone, for any number of reasons, but it wasn't done maliciously. And when you discovered the problem, they accepted full responsibility for their mistake, quickly corrected it for you and gave you an extra month of coverage to compensate you for your trouble. Sounds like pretty good customer service to me.

I never said or meant to imply that it was malicious. Btw, even though he promised me 1 extra month, being a pessimist, i was skeptical, perhaps justly so because I checked the warranty page again and it did not show the extra month.
