Domain Registrar recommendations

I'm looking to dump GoDaddy because of SOPA and some other things about them that I don't like or agree with.

Anyone have any recommendations for a Domain Name Registrar to go with? I don't really need anything fancy. I just need to be able to easily manage my contacts and nameservers, and get e-mail reminders when they're going to expire. I'd like it to about $10/year for the 3 major TLD's (com, net, org).

I like namecheap.com

I was with them for 5yrs and never had a problem. Their customer service is very good too.

Never been a fan of godaddy.com heard too many bad stories.

If you check around you can usually find some coupons.

Nice. Their name had already come up in my research, so sounds like a good choice. Thanks for the feedback.

I’m using Bluehost for both domain registration and hosting. I had GoDaddy, but too many issues with them. Bluehost is much better and they have great customer service.

Re: Domain Registrar recommendations

I switched over a dozen of my domains over to NameSilo years ago after reading this thread, and I couldn't be happier with them. Low prices, great customer service, and free private registration if you wish.

I'll throw in another recommendation for Namecheap.

It's pretty evergreen.

Re: Domain Registrar recommendations

After starting this thread, I initially moved to Namecheap, but left after prices continually went up over the years.

I moved everything to NameSilo. It's consistently cheaper, the interface is simple, and there's no upselling. Whois privacy is free (I realize Namecheap and others have that for free now too, but at the time, they didn't), and they offer free DNS hosting and e-mail forwarding, if you need those basic services. And they have 2FA, which I think everyone should use on their domain registration accounts.

I manage 20+ domains. I use NameSilo also for all the reasons mentioned.

BTW, the user who bumped this 7 year old thread ... this was their first post ... but signed up back in 2016. Weird.

Re: Domain Registrar recommendations

If I ever have reason to find another registrar, I've been looking at Porkbun recently. They seem to be even slightly cheaper than NameSilo, and comparable in features and usability.
