Bought a T3i...memory cards: What's the difference?

OK, so I just ordered a Canon T3i DSLR camera. When I was looking for a memory card I noticed a wide variety of cards, from SD, SDHC, EXTREME, and so on. I also noticed there are different classes. What is the difference between Class 4 and Class 10? I also saw that this camera supports "Eye-Fi"...how does that work?

I guess my base question is...what is the BEST card I can buy for this camera (and what makes that card the best?).

Thanks,

~S2K

THe higher the class the faster the processing of the images to the card and less delay on the fps. THe camera uses SD cards unless you use a micro with the adaptor sleeve. It is recommended to have multiple cards in case of failure. I carry (2) 8gig cards.

Eye Fi is a card that has wireless transmission and runs through your wireless router so you do not have to take the card out of the camera. You could also put one in your digital photo froame and not need to take it out to update it, its done wirelessly.

Re: Bought a T3i...memory cards: What's the difference?

I would definitely get a Class 10. My sister has the basic budget SD card in her T2i and after a couple of shots you have to wait for it to finish writing the data to the card. I got a Class 10 for my T3i and I don't have the same issue. If you plan on recording video at 1080p, Canon recommends the Class 10 cards.

Is this 'extreme' card a class 10? It's transfer rate is more than double of a regular Class 10, but it doesn't say Class 10 on it or in the description.

No that isn't. There will be a number on the card that says 4, 6 or 10. Try newegg,

this is a list of class 10's, just read the reviews to pick out the best one.

...and then there's this one, boasting 95MB/sec:

This is obviously the way to go, correct?

It's a UHS-1 (Ultra High Speed) card which is the next level above the Class "x" cards. Not sure if it's worth the extra cost from a Class 10 card of the same size.
