Need a new printer

I need a new PC printer.
I'm looking for cheap initial cost, cheap ink, small footprint, reasonably fast speed. I will be printing b/w text mostly - coupons, shipping labels, forms, etc. It doesn't need to sync to my phone, it doesn't need to be wireless, any of that stuff.
Any suggestions?

Re: Need a new printer

I got one of the Kodak's. Pleased.

Wait for a trade in deal + coupon from Office Depot and you can easily get an all in one wireless for $75 or maybe less.

Mine is wireless and it works well. Kodak has an app to allow some limited printing from your phone. But those features you say you don't need are getting more and more mainstream and typically don't add a lot of cost.

I'm pleased with it. I even did some photos on Kodak's photo paper and was very happy with the results. Of course the whole ball of wax is the cheap ink. And that it is readily available.

Have you considered a laser? I bought a brother hl2140 for $25 on sale, and i am still on the original starter toner cartridge. After a few hundred, the light started going on and it stopped printing , but I used the tape trick and printed hundreds of pages more after that. Bonus was that brother sent me a new toner cartridge free.

Re: Need a new printer

I actually did see a laser at Best Buy today that looked appealing. It wasn't 25 bucks, it was maybe 100, and the toner cartridges were 50, but it said it prints "up to" 2600 pages.

I don't have a printer to trade in, so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of any of those deals.
I saw these as well

I'm starting at Best Buy because I have a gift card there.

Re: Need a new printer

I have a Konica Minolta color laser printer that I paid $135 for three years ago, and I think they're cheaper now. I'm still on the original toner cartridges. It sounds like you don't need color, so I'm posting this just to second the recommendation for laser printers in general. They're way less of a pain than ink jet. Pretty much maintenance free. No clogged nozzles, etc.

Absolutely. I got tired of uber expensive ink carts drying out and bought a Brother laser on close out ($25-$30). I'll never go back.

Mine is a lower model, no wifi like that one. Important is what kind of toner it takes, the 2140 can use the tn360 cartridge, which is $15-20 for a generic on meritline or whatever. The tape trick works wonders getting a lot more pages as well for this model.

By the way, what is the tape trick? I might need to use it some day!

Re: Need a new printer

Thanks! I don't have a Brother, but I look forward to seeing whether KM uses a similar sensor when the time comes.
