Is there a program that will edit MP3 tags/names like this?

I have a bunch of MP3's that are in desperate need of renaming and tagging. They have NO tags and the names are all goofed up. They include the album and track number...like this:

FLY001-04-ROY - Orbison - Pretty Woman.mp3

I want them to be renamed Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman.mp3 and have the tags just state the artists and song.

Is there a program that will do this? Or do I have to rename each file myself then create the tags?

I use the free Mp3Tag for tagging/renaming mp3 files:

I've tried mp3tag but it gets confused...it thinks that the folder "FLY011" is part of the artists name.

I do too. It has saved me a ton of time.

I used to use Tag and Rename, I think it does a lot of what you're looking for.

Try doing "Tag->Filename" using this Format String:
%album%-%track%-%artist% - %artist% - %title%

I use mp3tag on pc. Are you just renaming individual tracks or are they albums? If they are albums, do the following:

1. Highlight all the files on a single album.
2. Edit the tags using the amazon album search. You may have to manually search for the album.
3. Move all the tracks around so that they match the info from Amazon.
4. Once all the tags are updated, go to re-name the file using tags. You can adjust how the files are named using various tags like %artist% - %tracknumber% - %tracktitle% (I am not sure the exact names, but you should be able to figure it out).
5. Save all the tags.

edit: or what Jay said.

I use the same. It takes a bit of use to fully understand how powerful it is, but once you've created your own masks and templates, it's a piece of cake to clean up your files. I used it to fix over 300GB of music (took me several months).
