Alternative player for video podcasts (besides Appleproducts!)

Right now I need a break from Apple products. I've been having problems with my Classic iPod syncing video podcasts and have spent hours scouring the internet for solutions, deleting, resetting, restoring, reinstalling....I can't.

Apple is always touted as having the easiest, simplest products to use...until you have a problem.

I don't have a degree in Computer Science but my tech knowledge is decent. I need to find the simplest, most cost effective, portable media player and I'd love some suggestions, please!

My main concern is I know these players don't always play all formats. If I have to use a video converter, it must be simple.

Please help! I'll give Apple more of my money next year, but right now I need an alternative.

I think my Classic has a 2-inch screen. Something along those lines would be fine.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze is what I would have bought if I didn't get an Ipod. Or a Creative Zen.

Get a Zune, people that have those devices love it.

I was going to recommend a Zune as well. I own a 16GB Zune HD and 64GB iPod Touch and as strictly a media player, I find the Zune to be superior.

Now is a great time to buy a Zune HD since Microsoft has discontinued them but they are still available. There are some nice deals to be had. And accessories are clearanced all over the place.

A factory refurb 16GB Zune HD is on sale at BestBuy.com for $99. I think that is a terrific price.

Microsoft discontinued the hardware but will still support it:

Meanwhile, they're expanding the Zune Music Pass to Australia and integrating Zune functionality into Windows Phones:
