Home UPS - Questions/Recommendations?

My old APC UPS just died, so I need to buy a new one. I'm trying to figure out my power needs. The old UPS had 1300VA/780W.

Can I get by on 1000VA/600W? Or do I need to spring the extra bucks for 1500VA/900W?

Here's what I have plugged into it:

Dell Studio with Intel Core 2 Quad
Dell 22-inch LCD
3 external hard drives
Cable Modem
Wireless Router
AIO Printer (only turned on when I use it)

Anyone have a recommendation of certain brands or models? Thanks.

This one gets 5 eggs after 264 reviews:

Kinda pricey though. -kd5-

I usually get Belkin 1500VAs for around $100 on sale. I get ones that allow you to replace the batteries without too much difficulty.

Re: Home UPS - Questions/Recommendations?

Those Cyberpower UPS seem to get the best reviews. I'm currently looking at these two models:

Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD (1500VA/900W)
http://www.amazon.com/Cyberpower-CP1...dp/B000FBK3QK/

CyberPower CP1000AVRLCD (1000VA/600W)
http://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1...dp/B000QZ3UG0/

I'd like to get the $100 model if it'll handle my set-up. But if not, then I'll just get the $150 version.

Re: Home UPS - Questions/Recommendations?

I ended up going with the CyberPower 1000VA/600W version. It's got 5 battery outlets and 4 non-battery outlets. I've got everything (except the printer) plugged into the battery-backup side. According to the software, all that stuff is only using 140-170 watts. That's around 25% capacity.

The software is pretty cool. It predicts I'll get around 20 minutes of backup time. And there's a scheduler that can shut down the PC when the battery gets low. It can also turn your equipment Off/On at daily scheduled times.

Anyways, pretty happy so far. $100 is a good price. The more expensive (1500VA/900W) model would have given more battery backup time, but it would have been overkill for a basic home set-up.
