Microsoft Word: prepare for publishing

My wife is preparing a booklet to be published and is preparing everything in Microsoft Word.

The layout is on letter paper, landscape. The issue is that each landscaped page actually contains 2 pages (and each page 2 columns), so if you are still with me, that means 4 columns on each page. The 2 left columns are 1 page, and the 2 right columns are another page. All good so far.

Now, she wants to print this 2 sided and bind it with a coil in the middle. The issue here now is (this is hard to explain) that the page numbering becomes very difficult. Let me outline this with an illustration.

The publication is 44 pages long. So, the first "page to be printed should have page 1 and 44 on one side of the paper, and 2 and 43 on the other side.

The next sheet of paper should have page 3 and 42 on one side and 4 and 41...

And so on.

Does anyone know how to instruct Word to print this, besides copy pasting everything myself in that order? Thanks!

So each "page" is really only half of one actual page? I can't imagine there would be a way for Word to re-order half of a page. Why didn't she compose the pages accordingly as she was writing it?

Recap of issues:
1. Set columns.
Format > Columns

2. Set page numbers
Insert > Page Numbers

3. Print booklet
File > Page Setup > Msrgins > Multiple Pages > Book Fold
