So I'm in...and totally confused. I imported my contacts from Yahoo (apparently this is the best way to import Facebook contacts) and only a few showed up. I dragged them to a circle....does that send an invite?

Re: RIP Facebook...introducing Google+
I'll be interested to see how this pans out. I don't have a facebook account and don't plan on ever having one. But I do use a lot of Google services already and this seems better-thought-out and more useful than Wave or Buzz, from the write-ups that I've seen. If they can make it feel like a natural extension of all the Google stuff you already do, I think it could at least put a small dent in facebook usage for some. I guess we'll see.

Dragging them to a circle does not send an invite, but if that person creates a Google+ account they will automatically be in that circle when their Google+ account is activated.
To send an invite I have created a circle for invite requests, add that person's email manually into the circle, and then share a post to that circle. When you share the post there is a checkbox that says something like "include an e-mail to a non-Google member of this circle" That's how I sent shadowhawk2020 an invite.

Yeah they are opening and closing them, demand is overwhelming beyond what Google expected.
I don't see any invites on mine either. Unless it's that 'Circles' shit.

Will this be like LiveJournal, which fizzled almost immediately once it was no longer invite-only and "exclusive"?

Being that you will receive notifications on any Google service I think will let it stick around in people's minds long enough to gain ground.

True for people like me who use a lot of Google services. But it seems a lot of people's ONLY web experience any more is via Facebook.

Timber, Matto, just tried the exploit for both of you.
That will be my last attempt until I get home from work tonight. I have a lot of stuff to do today.
