Netflix released for Android

This is pretty big since we are all netflix fans. I was going to put it in the android discussion but that typically only talks about roms so a lot may not go to that thread. I thought this might deserve it's own thread. If not mods then please merge with the correct topic

All I have to say is Fuck Yeah

Description
Get Netflix on your Android phone. Just download this free app and you can instantly watch TV shows & movies streaming from Netflix.
• It's part of your Netflix unlimited membership. Not a Netflix member? Start your FREE trial today.
• Watch as often as you want.
• Resume watching where you left off on your TV or computer.
• Browse movies and manage your instant Queue right from your phone.
Currently Netflix playback is supported on the following phones:
• HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
• HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
• HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2
• HTC G2 with Android 2.2
• Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3

Have at it guys

If you have a problem with it then update your flash. I think the hacked flash in cyanogenmod causes it to have no video only audio. I have cyanogen 7 and it is working beautifully.

Just tried it on 3g instead of wifi and it worked great. It loaded fast and didn't have any skips.

Nice. I wish apple would allow flash on the iPhone so I could watch videos not on YouTube.

Re: Netflix released for Android

I'm excited about this. Video playback worked great. I noticed that it didnt run in the background though. Like when I went to my homescreen, it stopped playing. But when I opened Netflix, it continued right where I left off. I'm using Evo with Sprint Lovers Rom

Looks like I'm going to have to get my extended battery, sooner then I thought.

Works great on my Evo. Stock 2.2. Question: the standard Sprint ROM is really stable and fast these days, why are people using cooked ROMs on the Evo?

To squeeze out extra benefits. For me I'm mainly using the free mobile hopsot, and the ad blocker(will block ads on the web and in the app)

Doesn't work out of the box for the LG Optimus V, but according to AndroidForums if you root the phone you can change the APK to that of one of the phones that is compatible. Here is a guide: http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-...optimus-v.html

Given the horsepower and ubiquity of the Droid X, I was surprised not to see it on the list. However, I can continue to wait. I'm not sure how much I would use Netflix on my phone anyway.

It "works" on my Nexus S, but not in my "area" (ie: Canada). Lame.

Re: Netflix released for Android

Netflix was smarter than HBO in that non-compatible devices can't download the app (and hence, can't leave 1-star reviews).

Re: Netflix released for Android

There are still a good number of 1 star reviews from people that can't get it to work on their cooked roms.

I have cyanogenmod 7 stable and it works fine for me. Those people who are leaving 1's are just too lazy to update their flash I think.

Re: Netflix released for Android

Here is the slightly modded app that will run on the non-officially supported phones. Most may already have it now, but it runs great on the X

Just download and save to the SD card and install

I'll be amazed if it works on the Hero. Just seriously, seriously doubt it.

Re: Netflix released for Android

I still get the error saying "This device cannot instantly stream from Netflix in your area."

I'm in Canada and connecting to a Canadian Netflix account. Boo.
