Need help connecting my own router with Verizon FiOS?

I used to have Time Warner cable without a box. I connected their modem to my wireless router and then from the router to the rest of my house.

We just got FiOS installed the other day. (My wife was home for the install or I would have asked the install guy so many questions myself) He connected the FiOS box to a provided wireless router. I thought it would be as simple as taking one of the ethernet wires an plugging it into my own wireless router and then connect that to the rest of the house. No dice.

My computer says it is connected to the internet when I select my own router to connect to but I can't actually get online. (putting the mouse over the wifi icon, it says "internet access") My four DVRs (Replay TVs) aren't able to see each other now.

Question: I would like to use my own router (I have a switch too) to expand the number of wired connections available. Is this possible with FiOS? How?

check the network scheme it's using and use a different subnet. there are three private IP ranges. most home routers use 192.168.1 or something like that. change your home router to be 192.168.2.
