I have ripped a number of old comedy albums I have with an ion turntable, and even some books on tape using an old boombox cassette player. Now I have big long mp3 files. That's fine, but I don't want to start over each time I listen to it, obviously. Now....you're all smart fellas, and someone has probably dealt with this already. So what do you use?

Holy shit. Does your new phone only allow you to start new threads and not ask questions in THE ONE AND ONLY ANDROID thread?

I wanted this exact thing a while back, and I found that Audiobook Player 2 does the job very well.

Note that it will only work for your intended purpose if the "album" is different for all of your giant files, because it remembers one "last played position" bookmark for each album/book.

I get manic and hate to be in One and Only threads.

Would it work if I had files with names like Bill Cosby part 1, Bill Cosby part 2, etc?

If it is just a different overall name, that sounds perfect.

My iphone had an app called "Bookmark" and it was absolutely perfect. Worked through your player, and simply let you have bookmarks.

I don't think the file names matter. You'd probably need to use an mp3 tag editor and change the Album field to be something unique for each file. Note that I'm only 95% sure that this program uses the Album field to determine what place info it's saving, so I recommend trying it out and seeing for yourself.

There are other programs out there that allow you to manually add bookmarks on any file regardless of this kind of tag info, but I was confused by most of them. Probably because I really just needed automatic place-saving technology.

I use Mortplayer for audiobooks. It can play MP3s and will let you add bookmarks to files.

I have been using Audio Book Player. I'm going to try Mortplayer out since it might have less annoying little bugs.
