The one and only ANDROID TABLET thread....
Since there doesn't seem to be one specific thread dealing with tablets....
Looks like Verizon heard the message and you don't have to buy one monthj's service with them to unlock Wi-Fi on the Xoom.

So, should I post any new info on the Notion Ink Adam to this thread, or to my old thread about it?
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/tech-talk/5...id-tablet.html
Also, should the other Android thread be renamed "The one and only ANDROID PHONE thread"?

hmmm. up to the mods. a name change for the other thread is a good idea. just seemed easier to post one big thread for the android tablets since there are like a bajillion coming out this year.

Xoom's website as seen on a Xoom The "full web experience" Xoom/Adobe style.
So what happened to your prediction that by the end of 2010 Flash would be irrelevant and every site would be using HTML5 to replace it? Didn't quite happen, did it?

For the sites I frequent, i'd say he's about 98% right. Most I go to recognize the iPad (e.g. ESPN.com) and provide something that works for me, including video. I have no doubt that there are some people who frequent a set of sites where that's not true, but that's been my experience since nearly day 1 of the iPad launch.

Some Tegra 2 games are starting to trickle out/get updated, I like that some seem to be adopting THD (Tegra HD) as a tag.
Fruit Ninja THD - $3
Spectral Souls - $15 (new update)
Samurai II
Backbreaker THD
Dungeon Defenders FW Deluxe (new update)
Monster Madness (new update)
It's a start

Official Details of the 4G LTE Upgrade Process for the Motorola Xoom
As expected, the upgrade will be free to everyone and will be available approximately 90 days after launch, so we’re looking at May before this thing will be cooking up those 4G speeds. And as we were told by Motorola at CES, you will have to send in your device and will be without it for 6 days while they upgrade the hardware and software.

How does that compare to the 4G update to the iPad? Or does the iPad not even support the next generation mobile network?

For example, looking up, say a restaurant's website before deciding to enter it or not, you're going to look at the same things on the site whether on 3G or LTE. It's just that on LTE it'll take you a few seconds, while on 3G it'll take you half a minute or so.

Hope he's right, hell it's 25% off right now
Are the costs really $20 for 1GB? Is there no "Unlimited" (5 gb) feature for $30 anymore?
I haven't done a lot of research on the matter as I'm fine tethering to my phone.
Also, the HD version of Fruit Ninja does have the multiplayer (single device) mode.

Maybe he means the subsidized prices? A number of Android phones get better discounts after being released a few months.
For example, I got my Vibrant last Summer soon after it came out. Later that fall they had a BOGO deal on it (with contract). Last month there was a deal to get it for free (with contract).

and meanwhile a 7 month old phone that barely works indoors sold about a million units in a week at $199 and $299. same prices as when the AT&T version came out

1 GB for $20/month
3 GB for $35/month
5 GB for $50/month
10 GB for $80/month

Not that this is for data-only plans. There's a $30 for unlimited data plan that can be used with smartphones.

The Verizon iPhone is not a "7 month old phone" anymore than the Nexus S was. And the whole reason it sold well was because there was no other iPhone option available on Verizon.

Re: The one and only ANDROID TABLET thread....
except for the new qualcomm radio chip and a modified antenna it's still the same iphone 4 as the one introduced in 2010. maybe it was the infeneon radio that made it a crappy phone since my Inspire on the same AT&T network works a lot better as a phone. i can even now get data in almost every elevator i try to use it in

Never underestimate trendy, Apple should try TM the term. I never understood what was so difficult about device design and why Apple seems to be one of the few companies to get it right.
