Netflix from laptop not full screen on new tv

I'm guessing theres a setting somewhere I need to adjust. Is there a way I can use the full 42 inches on my new tv for streaming from my HP G60 series laptop running vista. I've used it in dual mode and get sound and video from my HDMI connection, however the display in full screen is only about 1/3 of my available 42 inch screen. How do I adjust my output to get true full screen. Thanks in advance folks.

Thanks for the tip. Do you think the HDMI handshaking is what causes this? We're considering getting a Wii, hopefully the netflix stream from there will utilize the entire screen.

i doubt it's a handshake issue. i know with my sony dlp and my brother in law's plasma, you have to set it wide to fill up the screen w/ a laptop. i imagine it's something to do with the laptop's display settings, but i don't know for sure.
